Thank you so much for your interest in our clinic. In addition to comprehensive diagnostic
hearing evaluations and hearing aids we offer tinnitus evaluations and treatment for
people who suffer from ringing in the ears. We are proud to be locally owned and operated
because it allows us to offer our patients a variety of products from the top manufacturers
in the industry.
Today’s hearing aids have many sophisticated features to improve clarity for speech and
reduce background noise. For example, if you have a hearing loss in the high pitches that
makes it difficult for you to distinguish consonant sounds like “sh”, “f”, and “t”, we can use
frequency lowering technology to move these sounds down in pitch and make them easier
for you to hear. Background noise is reduced with the use of sophisticated directional
microphones which allow you to focus in on the person you are trying to hear in a noisy
environment. Hearing aids can also reduce steady noise from a motor or fan, and turbulent
noise from the wind. Now, if we could just get them to walk the dog and take out the trash!
Many people with hearing loss are bothered by ringing or buzzing in their ears, which is
called tinnitus. These two problems commonly occur simultaneously because in most
cases the damage to the ear resulting in hearing loss is also what caused the tinnitus. If
you have bothersome tinnitus there are a wide variety of treatment options available that
may offer you some relief. Some of these options are built into a hearing aid so that we can
kill two birds with one stone, while others work as a standalone system treating just the
tinnitus but not the hearing loss. A comprehensive hearing test and tinnitus evaluation will
need to be completed in order to determine which treatment option is best for you.
We look forward to helping you improve your hearing health. Please feel free to call 303-
639-5323 or e-mail me at Julie@newleafhearing.com if you have any questions.
Happy hearing!
